Student Success Statement

“You must live in the present to secure your future.”

-Reverend Robert Craig

Reflection: This statement is really true. You must live your present to make sure your future is secure. If you do not do anything in the present day, then there will be nothing much waiting for you in the future. What you do now reflects on your future, and you must try to set or accomplish many goals today so success can come in the future. If you do not do much right now, success or happiness will not be waiting for you in the future. It all counts on you to focus on what you want to do or accomplish so that your future will be bright. Choose the right and start living in the present so your future can be wonderful!

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You?

Part 3

Challenging Aspects of Distance Education

·        Lack of in-person interaction: Some educators argue that both teacher-student and student-student contact are essential to learning.  In a distance-learning classroom, you may be able to participate in class discussions online chat rooms, message boards or Web conferences--- but it’s not the same as being with other students in a classroom.
·        Different levels of quality: Many distance-education programs supply an excellent learning experience, but others may not. Research any program before signing on to make sure it’s rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program, look into its accreditation before enrolling.
·        The need to self-start: Distance education lets you make your own schedules. If you have a hard time getting motivated, this might not be the ideal educational setting for you.

Student Success Statement

“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it’s right.”

-Rosa Parks

Reflection: I think Rosa Parks is absolutely correct. You must never fear anything when you are doing what’s right. When you do what’s right you are doing good to yourself and to others. On the other hand if you do badly you are always going to live in fear. For example if you robbed, you will live in fear of getting caught or sent to jail. It will always remain in your conscience and you will feel guilty all your life. Doing what’s right is the best thing to do because you will never have to worry or fear about anything. Choose what’s right and have no fear!!!!

Balancing High School and Part-time work

Part 5

Additional tips

Although working and going to school is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you are some foresight. These tips can help you handle the situation and make most of your time:

·       Discuss your plan with your family. Balancing the demands of school and work is easier with their support.
·       Start slowly; don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately
·       Avoid time conflicts by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.
·       Use your time efficiently. You can use 10 minutes waiting in a line to go over few pages of assigned reading. If your job has a lot of downtime and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do schoolwork.
·       If you commute to your job on public transportation, bring your schoolwork with you so you can work along the way.
·       Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on some other thing you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.
·       If you have too much on your plate, admit it. Then cut back as needed.
·       Schedule relaxation time. Everyone needs some downtime to stay happy and healthy.

Spring Break J

This spring break was very nice. I did lots of things. The first thing I did while I was on break was go to the gym and workout. I was working on my fitness to be healthier and fit. The most fun thing I did while I was on break was visit my friend Evelyn who lives in Santa Fe Springs. My best friends Rafaela, Jaque, and I took the bus to my friends school to surprise her. We ended up getting off on the wrong stop so we were lost. Luckily my friend Jaque had a GPS system on her phone and it gave us the correct directions. It was a very hot day and we walked 3 miles just to get to our destination. Although the walking was tough we managed to get there on time and my best friend Evelyn was ecstatic to see us. Afterwards we went to her house and had a nice dinner. We laughed, chattered, and talked until we were tired. It was an awesome day and I had lots of fun!!!

Summary:

Marion Jones was a great Olympic player who won three gold and two bronze. She was very successful and her reputation as a magnificent athlete grew. As the years past she admitted to have used performance-enhancing drugs to win. She lied to federal investigators and had always denied that she had used steroids. She was sentenced six months in prison for lying and using those drugs.

Reflection:

I think this is a really bad. Marion Jones should have never taken those drugs or cheated. She also should have not lied to federal investigators and admitted she took those drugs. She chose the wrong and couldn’t get away cheating and lying. This makes her look bad and also her character. Choose the right and don’t lie or cheat like Marion jones because you cannot get away with it.

Balancing High School and Part-time work

Part 4

He reminds students that “the activities and courses students choose vary considerably, so it’s important for young people to keep their individual situations clearly in mind. “MacGowan continues, “For example, student actors should allow for the fact that they won’t have as much time during performance seasons. Student athletes need to remember the times of year that they’ll be tied up with games and practices. Other students who are in classes that make considerable demands outside of the classroom must keep that reality in mind.”
